Hublot Oceanographic 4000 Diver for Only Watch 2011
written by A.Morgan - 5th Jul 2011

The Only Watch entrants are coming thick and fast now, and this time it’s Hublot who are making a splash. Quite a big splash too, because the Oceanographic Diver can travel all the way down to four thousand metres below sea level. Think about that for a minute. Four kilometres. That’s nearly five times the height of the Burj Khalifa, the tallest tower in the world.
In order to withstand the biblical pressures it would experience at that depth, the carbon fibre case has been inflated to 48mm and the crystal to 6.5mm thick. Both crowns (one for setting the time and the other for rotating the internal timing bezel) and the case back screw down to seal the case tight shut for the Roxer tank pressure test to an equivalent five thousand metres depth.
The Oceanographic is named after and built in association with the Oceanographic Museum of Monaco, the same place the Only Watch auction will be held at in September. The red and white colours were chosen to match those of the Monaco flag.
