Hyper Car Becomes Hyper Winder
written by A.Morgan - 14th Nov 2011
Two-hundred and sixty-eight miles per hour. Eight litres. Four turbochargers. Sixteen watches. Wait, what?

If you thought I was talking about the monstrous powerhouse that launches the Bugatti Veyron from nought to sixty in a terrifying 2.4 seconds, then you’d be right. And no, that last part isn’t an error, because now the German company OriginTimes have found another use for the precision-machined aluminium engine block – as a sixteen slot watch winder.
Each cylinder, where any one of the sixteen titanium pistons usually sit, is now home to an individual watch winder, all controlled by a top-mounted touchscreen panel that allows full customisable programming of each one. Direction, speed, start and stop timing and sleep modes are individually adjustable for each winder, giving all the watches the exact individual winding attention they need. The cylinders even light up green or red around their edges depending on whether they are active or not.
So with Christmas just around the corner, should you have someone in mind that is a nightmare to buy for because they already have everything, you now know what you can get for them. You’ll have to be a very generous friend though, because depending on spec this winder costs in excess of £70,000, seven percent of the value of the car itself. Maybe your friend will be getting some funny socks this year instead then…
