Romain Jerome Launch Space Invaders Watch

It’s hard to believe that it was thirty-three years ago in 1978 that this landmark computer game first hit the arcades. Such was its popularity that its Japanese release triggered a shortage of the hundred Yen coins required to play it. Since then, it has gone on to amass its creators, Taito Corporation, over $500 million in profit.
As a nod to this grandfather of today’s epic fragging, Romain Jerome have released a watch that would bring a tear to any gamer’s eye. The obviously-titled ‘Space Invaders’ watches come in two styles – coloured and luminous – and have layered dials adorned with a perfect recreation of the original game’s characters. Normally I would give the rest of the spec of this watch, but, to be honest, it can’t get any better than this anyway. Safe to say it has an in-house movement, and is built to the high standards that we have come to expect from the eccentric brand, but I don’t think that matters. Ownership of this watch is more in the need corner than the want.
Talking of need, I need to have a go at the original game again, so the likelihood is that that’s the rest of my afternoon wasted. It will be yours wasted too, because here it is in all it’s 8-bit glory:
